Hurricane Melissa repair and full renovation of the Jewel Grande Montego Bay resort, on Jamaica's north coast, managed for Sagicor.

The hurricane lifted or tore off the wooden roofs, displaced façades and let water into rooms and public areas, damaging millwork, MEP equipment, elevators and windows.

TLDI acts as construction manager on Sagicor's behalf. It assessed the damage and validates the repair scope with the insurance adjusters, and is responsible for cost planning, budget control and the schedule, as well as design coordination, procurement and contracting. On site, TLDI supervises the works, reviews and certifies contractor payment applications and reports to the owner weekly and monthly.

Roof replacement was completed in 2026, and substantial completion is targeted for 2027.

Scope of works

  • 288 rooms across three towers (Sentry, Silver and Sabal) and 11 villas, plus the clubhouse, spa and gym, pools, landscaping and service buildings
  • Roof and façade rebuilding, and interior reconstruction of the rooms, including floors, ceilings and millwork
  • MEP repair and replacement: water heaters, pumps, HVAC, cooling tower plant, transformers and data cabling
  • Elevator and pool repairs (Sentry, Clubhouse and Spa), landscape restoration and works to the service buildings, including the power generation plant and reverse osmosis system
