Rebuild of the former Barceló Los Cabos after Hurricane Odile hit Baja California in September 2014.
Playa Hotels & Resorts appointed TLDI as construction management agent, from negotiating with the insurance adjusters to running the general contractor and the procurement. The 619-key resort reopened as Hyatt Ziva Los Cabos eleven months after the first survey.
Scope of works
- Repair of all construction and equipment damaged by Hurricane Odile, including consequential damage assessed by the emergency team
- Full rebuild of 90% of the guest rooms, 100% of the public areas and 50% of the service areas
- Hurricane-proof windows, reinforced partitions and new decking to pool terraces and corridors
- New interior design concept across all bars, restaurants and public areas, and a reconfigured room mix with more suites
